The 4th of July is quickly becoming one of my favorite holidays! Getting around family, friends, good food and fireworks — nothing better! If you’re still looking for something quick, easy, delicious, and patriotic to bring to your family BBQ or trip to the lake, try these yummy pound cake churro bite kabobs with lemon glaze. A crowd pleaser to make year round!
Lemon & Berries
There is something about fresh berries that just screams summertime to me. I love the light fresh taste that lemon brings to any dessert. This easy-to-make recipe uses a frozen pound cake, but you can go all out and make your own! Bring this with you on the 4th of July and watch the fireworks go off when they take a bite. Pound Cake Churro Bite Kabob with Lemon Glaze
A simple and delicious dessert that you can whip together in no time and is always a crowd pleaser. Best served hot this is a great dessert to bring to a backyard BBQ or 4th of July party
- 1 Sarah Lee Pound Cake *from frozen section of grocery store
- 3/4 cup sugar *I used splenda instead of sugar
- 1/4 cup cinnamon
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp lemon zest
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp lemon juice
slice pound cake into 1 inch cubes
heat a pan on medium heat with 1/4 a cup of vegetable oil.
meanwhile combine sugar and cinnamon in a bowl
add half of the pound cake squares to the oil and flip until each side is slightly browned.
drain off the oil from the bites and add a couple at a time to the cinnamon sugar mixture.
with a spoon coat the bite in cinnamon sugar and set on a cooling rack.
repeat with the second half of the bites until they are all done
combine powdered sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice until smooth
drizzle lemon glaze over churro bites with a spoon.
Pound Cake Churro Kabobs
Take a skewer and alternate fresh berries like blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries and the churro bites with lemon glaze
The churro bites are best served hot!
